RDR are recruiting for a Mobile Head of SHEQ. This is a permanent full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary & benefits package.

General Overview:

To provide strategic guidance and ensure the Places & Communities Division meets its statutory requirements. Identify and deliver solutions to improve Health and Safety within the division. Working with the regional Regeneration and Service teams to ensure the clients objectives and SHEQ culture are embedded within division.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of the SHEQ agenda across the division to ensure all work is undertaken within external and internal standards and guidelines
  • Create and implement a programme of culture change to ensure health and safety remains at the core of all decision making, whilst ensuring due consideration for commercial and operational pressures
  • Lead the Team to ensure adequate systems are in place to meet all statutory and the clients SHEQ obligations
  • Ensure accurate recording systems are in place for near misses, accidents, RIDDOR and AIR rate
  • Embed an effective auditing process that delivers key data, allows the analysis of data, the establishments of trends and investigation of preventative measures
  • Ensure all employees within the division have the appropriate H&S training, qualifications and development
  • Lead key investigations and liaise with stakeholders, ensuring detailed investigations are undertaken and full reports/ recommendations are provided to the divisional boards
  • Hold close out meetings where applicable, to ensure incidents/ investigations are fully closed and firm action plans and recommendation are embedded in order to prevent further occurrences
  • Support other internal functions to ensure systems and resources are as required and appropriate to manage the risks across the division
  • Provide accurate and up to date information to the divisional boards
  • Form strategic relationships with the HSE and other appropriate industry forums
  • Support key bids, attend tender interviews, lead competitive dialogue in the bid process to demonstrate that H&S is top of the agenda
  • Undertake comparisons/ benchmarking against competitors and undertake improvements to improve performance levels
  • Effective management of direct reports

Qualifications and Required Experience:

Essential

  • Strong leadership to ensure SHEQ remains a key component in the culture of P&C
  • Previous experience in a senior Health and Safety role within the construction or related industries
  • Experience of fire prevention
  • Understanding of construction technology and methods
  • Demonstrable experience in relevant SHEQ legislation
  • Strong leadership to ensure SHEQ remains a key component in the culture of P&C

Desirable

  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; British Safety Council Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health; City & Guilds Level 5 (NVQ) Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice; NCRQ Level 6 Diploma in Applied Health and Safety or equivalent qualification or qualification by experience
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety
  • Chartered membership of IOSH
  • Fire Management
